Barista Vacancy – KIBCO Coffee

KIBCO Coffee is looking for a friendly, reliable Barista to join our café and roastery team in London as we prepare for reopening. We are a small independent Ethiopian coffee business, focused on quality coffee, warm customer service, and a clean, welcoming café experience. The role is suitable for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in good coffee, and can help us rebuild strong daily operations.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities

- Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, filter coffee, teas, smoothies, and other menu items to KIBCO standards.
- Prepare sandwiches and toasties to KIBCO standards, following food hygiene and allergen procedures.
- Welcome customers, take orders, use the till/POS, and provide friendly service.
- Keep the counter, seating area, equipment, and back-of-house areas clean and organised.
- Support daily opening and closing routines.
- Help monitor stock levels for milk, coffee, cups, lids, packaging, pastries, and other café supplies.
- Follow food hygiene, allergen, cleaning, and health & safety procedures.
- Support the soft opening period by collecting customer feedback and helping improve service flow.
- Represent KIBCO’s values: quality, hospitality, reliability, and respect.

What we are looking for

Ideal candidate

- Previous barista or café experience preferred.
- Confident preparing espresso drinks and working during busy periods.
- Friendly, calm, and professional with customers.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when needed.
- Willing to learn KIBCO’s coffee menu, Ethiopian coffee story, and service standards.
- Good attention to cleanliness, presentation, and detail.
- Able to work early mornings, weekends, or flexible shifts if required.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.

Desirable but not essential

- Latte art experience.
- Interest in speciality coffee or Ethiopian coffee.
- Experience with food preparation, pastries, smoothies, or retail coffee sales.
- Basic stock control or ordering experience.
- Food hygiene certificate.
